A chance find becomes an urban opportunity...
One summer I was content searching through the NJSoA Library when I came across a proposal that at the time seemed under-developed. The New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University collaborated to propose to the city of Newark a unique form of public transit known as the BRT (Bus Rapid-Transit). When I talked it over with its project leader it was discovered that the proposal had stalled on its development and I saw this project as an opportunity to improve on the original proposal. This involved studying Mass-Transit development and history, meetings with engineers and planners on key issues, and a visit to the birthplace of the original BRT system in Curitiba, Brazil.
